You won't find "the usual suspects" on the Resources page. My goal is to give you ideas and tools you might not expect to find but end up enjoying and passing along to others.
Why is the first resource on this page a children's book? Because I believe in the power of the press: Pressing your child close for regular reading time. Moms, as long as you have children at home, make reading together a priority! Reading books is a core value of the Stack family.
My daughter Elizabeth and I love this book. She's 20 now, but we discovered this during her preschool years on the public television program, "Reading Rainbow," hosted by Levar Burton. We immediately checked it out from the library, and then I bought a copy for her later. This book inspired us to take a "women trip" just before my son was born. Though we wanted to take "women trips" every year, it wasn't always possible. Our solution was regular "women time." That's the point anyway -- tucking away memories, not racking up miles.
Even if you never read this book (but I hope you do), consider the idea of taking each of your children on a short trip -- just the two of you. It doesn't have to be expensive or exotic. Simple adventures experienced one-on-one and away from the normal routine are eye-opening and heart-bonding.
